- The Barrett BORS Ballistic Calculator is a device that is mounted on an optical sight, integrates with it to form a single system, and allows for automatic calculation of the necessary adjustments. Knowing the ballistic characteristics of the weapon and the distance to the target (as precisely as possible),the BORS (Barrett Optical Ranging System) can be used to input vertical corrections, ensuring high shooting accuracy. The Barrett ballistic calculator is used together with standard optics on rifles from this manufacturer. Its operating principle is quite simple: the calculator’s screen displays the distance that corresponds to the adjustments made on the sight. Before the shot, the shooter makes corrections until the number on the calculator’s screen matches the actual distance to the target. For calculations, the ballistic parameters of the weapon are used (recorded in the form of ballistic tables — ready-made solutions are available from Barrett, but custom data can also be uploaded). The device also takes into account external parameters it reads: Position of the optical sight’s adjustment knob. Angle of the weapon (including lateral tilt, though it does not affect corrections). Climatic conditions — air temperature, atmospheric pressure. The device is housed in a durable casing and is reliably protected against external influences. Using the Barrett ballistic calculator reduces the shooter’s workload at long distances and improves shooting accuracy.
