The Japanese Higo knife series was introduced by Rockstead® in January 2024 and quickly secured a strong position among premium-class folding knives. The key feature of the Higo knife is its exceptional hardness and impressive cutting performance, achieved through the use of high-carbon ZDP-189 steel, hardened at 1100°C. For the handle, A2024 duralumin was used, reducing the overall weight to just 132 grams. The thick 3.3 mm spine reliably protects the blade from lateral stress and includes a thumb stud for easy opening. A Frame-Lock mechanism was chosen for safety, allowing the 90 mm blade to be folded with one hand, even while wearing winter gloves. Additionally, the knife features an ergonomic handle with micarta (impact-resistant thermoplastic) overlays and an attractive blue accent. A practical metal clip and lanyard hole are also integrated into the handle. The Higo II model is an excellent choice both for those seeking a Japanese knife for everyday carry and for collectors who value Rockstead® products for their rich history and connection to Japanese knife-making culture. The knife comes in a signature wooden box and has its own unique serial number, engraved on the blade and duplicated in the product’s certificate.
