It was developed by US Army officer Rex Applegate in collaboration with designer and close-combat instructor William Fairbairn. After numerous consultations with soldiers who used the dagger in real combat situations, the designers managed to create a unique knife that has remained popular for more than 20 years. The blade of this military knife is made from 440C steel with a hardness of 58 HRC and features a double-edged grind. The wide curved guard reliably protects the fingers from injury and also serves as a thumb rest, enhancing grip strength. The handle is made of Delrin, and its non-slip surface provides a secure and comfortable grip. To achieve ideal balance, steel weights are placed inside the handle.
