If you’re choosing between a smoothbore shotgun and a rifled carbine — consider a combination gun. A drilling — typically features three barrels: two smoothbore and one rifled. The Heym hunting shotgun featured in our catalog includes two horizontally paired 16-gauge barrels and a single rifled barrel located underneath. This versatile configuration allows the Heym to be used for both bird hunting and larger game. It is heavier than a typical double rifle or bolt-action carbine — but the added utility is worth the extra weight. The upper barrels feature external locks, while the lower rifled barrel is equipped with a cocking lever (Schlappschieber) that must be engaged before firing. The trigger system includes two separate triggers for different barrel types, and pull weight is adjustable.
